Assessment
This is how the course will be assessed:
Ongoing assessment – self evaluation and feedback from assistants and trainers.
There will be short quizzes to help integrate knowledge and highlight areas for development.
You will be asked to provide a short explanation of a psychoeducation topic of your choice that’s been covered on the course, in a way you might say it to a student (5-10 minutes).
Participation in practice sessions in dyads and triads with self and peer evaluation.
Submission of case studies and written assignments.
Students who do not meet the course requirements will be given the opportunity to improve and be encouraged to pass at a later date.
Assessment style can be flexed for individual students who may find writing (or other forms of assessment) a barrier to course completion.
What will graduates be able to do at the end of the course?
-
Guide students through the 3-phase trauma recovery model (phase 2 is to be done alongside therapy).
-
Provide Yoga Alliance Professionals Accredited Trauma Informed Yoga sessions.
-
Advertise yourself as an Accredited Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher and use the Accredited TIY badge.
This goes beyond adapting a general yoga class to do no harm (Trauma Sensitive Yoga). For this, you only need the 20 hour Trauma Sensitive Yoga course.
Our accredited 100 hour course is an in-depth, practical approach to guiding students through each of the three phases of trauma recovery: stabilization, processing and integration. It includes plenty of teaching practice, observations and feedback.
You will receive practical training in experiencing, designing and implementing trauma recovery plans.
You will gain knowledge of working alongside psychology and psychiatry, basics of psychiatric medications, considering risk, safeguarding and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the NHS or privately.
